Optimal Selection of Capacitors for a Low Energy Storage Quadratic Boost Converter (LES-QBC)

This article studies a recently proposed dc-dc converter and its optimization in terms of capacitors selection through the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. The under study is so-called Low Energy Storage Quadratic Boost Converter (LES-QBC), quadratic type that offers smaller Output Voltage Ripple (OVR) compared to traditional boost topology with same characteristics. presents way select for minimizing OVR while achieving constraint maximum stored energy capacitors. capacitor’s given as design specification. results are against LES-QBC without (equal capacitance capacitors). algorithm used was (PSO). experimental demonstrate effectiveness proposition. For exercise results, kept almost same, reduction achieved versus non-optimized LES-QBC.
